The Playstation Portable (PSP) is a handheld gaming console made by Sony Computer Entertainment
and was first released in the U.S. on March 24th, 2005. There were two different versions sold,
the Core Pack (or Base Pack) and the Value pack. The first generation consoles are only offered until
the remaining units are sold out, after that only the PSP-2000 and PSP-3000 series will be available.
In September of 2007 Sony released the second generation of the PSP, which is called the PSP
Slim and Lite (or PSP-2000). The PSP Slim and Lite is 33% lighter and 19% thinner than the original PSP. Additionally,
the LCD screen is brighter, and it has improved WLAN modules. Finally, the PSP Slim and Lite actually loads games faster
than the original because the memory was doubled.
The most current version of the Playstation Portable is the PSP-3000, which was released in October of 2008.
The PSP-3000 series is similar to the PSP Slim and Lite, but it offers a vastly improved LCD screen,
a microphone, and new anti-reflective technology to reduce glare when playing outdoors.
Given that the pricing is very similar along all of the models, below is only what the PSP-3000 series offers:
